//Don't Talk Like You Know...
...because you don't. Especially when it comes the NBA.
At a random event, some guy in a group conversation asked what were the last DVDs everybody saw. When I told them it was "Ultimate Jordan 23" disc 1, the guy somehow, as any typical I-will-disagree-just-so-I-can-be-the-first-person-to-say-things-this-way-and-look-deep person,
decided to point out that there's "no point" watching Michael Jordan's highlights anymore, because he's not the best player. Kobe Bryant is.True. MJ is over 40 years old. Kobe has the advantage over him.
Of course, he said at any age MJ was, Kobe was a better player at the same age.
Yeah, yeah. Every ignorant person thinks he knows better, which is essentially what made him ignorant. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who actually look back into the NBA for a few years, would NEVER say such a dumb statement.
Stupid Lakers Fan!
Where do you think Kobe, and every shooting guard that came into the NBA in the last 10 years, got their games from? That's correct: They ALL watched Jordan. Of course, all of them, like all you couch-basketball-players, only saw what Jordan did on the offensive end, and were never the same competitor Jordan was. How many "next Jordan"s have been labelled in the last decade? None of them lived up to the hype. Kobe, at best, is a Michael Jordan 2.0. But that still makes him a "me2" player. Not the first.
At this point, the guy wanted to change topic. I stopped him. I told him that since he took the first jab, he'd better man up to take the retaliation hits.
If you I-super-know-lots-about-basketball-because-I-watched-some-Lakers-games has ever seen MJ at the peak of his career, you can always tell that his speed, reflex, shots, dunks all game as a natural instinct. Natural: it's why every move MJ made was carried out with grace. Comparing those moves to that of Kobe's, you can tell everything is calculated and choreographed. It shows that Kobe is an intelligent player. It also shows that his move was from something that he has seen before. For those of you idiots that have to ask: He learned it from watching Michael Jordan.
What makes Kobe the closest thing to MJ 2.0 is the fact that he has the basketball I.Q. to play good defense. But unlike MJ, he isn't able to sustain the defensive prowess for the whole game. I don't blame him. Jordan is simply unmatched in his mental toughness, which is what drove him beyond his physical limits.
Ever heard of "The Jordan Rule"? Look it up on Google. Kobe never had to face that rule, due to the fact that NBA got cleaned up big time from its physicalness. The MJ vs. Kobe scoring stats may be comparable, but Jordan always scored with a considerable more amount of defensive pressure from his opponents.
If you Laker fans believe, even for a tiny bit, that you like the sports of basketball, then you should truly adjust your mentality and accept the fact that the best player that played the game of basketball doesn't wear a Laker uniform. You're seeing the NBA on television because of MJ. Not Kobe. If you're just favor Kobe, then your opinion lacks any proper comparison and good thinking, thus making it nothing but a lousy, uneducated statement. If you never seen any video footages of MJ at his primes (he had more than one), and have the audacity to claim validity on your MJ vs. Kobe statements, you're just flat out an idiot.
