So my co-workers who went to USC has pretty much been avoiding me all week. They were in my face on several occassions because The Trojans performed much better overall this season than the UCLA Bruins, and they believe SC was gonna pummel UCLA in the cross town rivalry game. Last week, I couldn't seem to make it clear enough that I don't care about football. Either they were deaf, or that they were drunk at work and had attention disorder. Of course, the result didn't go in SC's favorite, and UCLA won the bragging rights for the weekend.
I, actually, really don't care much about that win. In fact, I feel bad for the PAC-10 conference...
You see, with USC heading into the NCAA Championship game, PAC-10 overall gets more respect and exposure around the country. That, in turn, leads to more highschool football stars showing the desire to play for the schools in the conference, which will obviously leads to a stronger conference with better teams that get more wins and have more potentials to win even more national titles.
But no. The Bruins played like crap all season, and decided to one day play up to their potentials. Where the f*** were these fighting spirits and winning attitude during the season? Had they play this smart and this hard in every game, the team would probably be playing for a more prestige bowl game now.
So, we, alumni, students and fans, get the bragging rights. So what? The record book still shows an underachieving season, and UCLA will still likely to end up with a crappy team roster next season.
