//It's Not That Easy
A friend of mine wanted me to hang out with her and her boyfriend, who happens to be my buddy as well, this weekend. I declined. I am having a fulfilling weekend with guys and dates. Plus I want to relax.
It's not that I couldn't spare some time to hang out with them. I just don't want to. I don't want to take any part of their time together. I don’t want to have to have half-ass conversation with guy while the girl nibbles him like an annoying cat, distracting him from “guy talk”. I don’t want to have to answer her, give suggestions and advices while he gets the feeling that she seeks me out as the person to confide.
She couldn’t understand that. She wanted to just simply slap me into the category of "The type of person that do not believe in guy-girl friendship." She cut our conversation short, choosing not to hear any TRUTH and FACTS and ISSUES that SHE MUST LEARN TO ACCEPT – You cannot have your cake and eat it, too.
So, let me give you the friggin’ DEFINITE scenarios that will happen when you try to date and hang out with your friends at the same time:
"Hey, Sherry. Wanna hang out with Jason and I today? While we're out, Jason and I will be talking about sports, cars, games, girl, bitches and ho's, and leaving you feeling totally left out."
"Hey, Jason. Joanna and I are going out today. Wanna come? Since we're all friends, you can try to have a decent conversation with me while Joanna whines, nags, and pulls my shirt constantly to remind us that she needs to be the center of my universe. Great, huh?"
It’s not that simple. Look at past examples of the people around you. Stop trying to reinvent the friggin’ wheel. It’s as perfectly round as it is.

I used to hang out with my friends and their better halves when I was a teenager and it sucked even then. You're right in turning your friend down. The hassle isn't worth it at all.
Don't you hate that? Hanging out with a couple is very annoying.
